Hi all…
I put together a spreadsheet with approximate dates for Sam’s treatment. It’s subject to change but it gives an idea of the roadmap. He’s doing great (finished 2nd round of chemo) but has been riding his Razor scooter and running which is so awesome, I can’t tell you. We took his scooter to Blockbuster tonight to get, what else, another Oscar-winning performance of Scooby Doo. We needed a lift from mom to get back home butit was a huge step for my little guy. We’re running a tiny fever tonight (he’s neutropenic tonight and will be for the next 4 nights as his immune system is suppressed) so we may end up in the hospital again but that’s pretty much par for the course for the kidsin oncology.
Greg/Lorraine – special thanks to you guys. I think of you and your son often throughout the day. His success is something I think about 1000x daily – he’s my little inspiration. Their son Gregory was diagnosed 4 years ago at Sam’s age with almost identical pathology/disease and is now 8-1/2, doing karate, and being the healthy little boy he’s supposed to be.
When Gregory visited Sam in the hospital a few weeks ago, he showed me his kata, complete with grunts and other sound effects. It was about 9:30 pm, we were in the middle of the hallway in the oncology area, and I was terrified that we would wake every little kid on the floor. It was very cool since he was so proud & excited to demonstrate his skills!
I know Margot & I owe a bunch of people emails/calls and we’ll get to them. We just are doing a bit of recharging at the moment.
Thanks for everything.
Neil
