Sam is home – yeah! He came home Saturday and we’ve been having fun ever since. He’s a bit tired and still not eating as much as we’d like but it’s just great to have him home.
Sam is a very sweet little guy and adores his mom. At the hospital on Friday, the staff had a bunch of Mother’s Day gifts that kids could choose from. Sam chose a hydrometer (it measures the rain) that looks very elegant and vaselike and they helped him wrap it and he signed his name to the card.
He was SO PROUD and he made Margot promise that she couldn’t peek at it. When she opened it, Margot was so gentle and sweet about it that it made me remember exactly why I fell in love with her back in ’93. She is just a super Mom who loves her kids more than anything. The hydrometer now a place of honor on our patio just in time for the San Diego dry season 🙂
Andy is very happy to have Sam home also and has been celebrating by throwing the cushions off all of the couches and jumping up and down on the furniture. For 2 very physical little guys who like to wrestle, there is a genuine love between them and they are our proudest accomplishments.
Mother’s Day dinner was over at Colleen & Joe Monaco. They have 2 boys, Joe and Jake, who are the exact ages as Sam & Andy. Sam & Joe watched Star Wars and then all four proceeded to run around Colleen’s house and destroy it. No blood or broken bones so we called it a good night.
Scans are scheduled for next week as an outpatient. With surgery looming, the scans will provide the framework for the removal of Sam’s tumor. We are so excited to have that evil thing out of his belly – if you haven’t figured out by now, I hate cancer. Just hate it, hate it, hate it.
So, please pray that Sam avoid fever & infections this week so he stays home and I can fatten him up! I’ll keep updating this and will get Margot a copy of this software so she can update the site also.
With best wishes, Neil
