We were sprung from the hospital Wednesday at noon. Sam is very happy to be home. He and Andy ran around last night in their Batman capes (Andy’s consists of a hand towel pinned to his shirt) and Sammy had Andy laughing so hard he got the hiccups.
With Margot’s Aunt Anne/Uncle Don here from New Orleans, we’ve been boating on an electric catamaran on Mission Bay where Captain Sam pretty much tried to sink Uncle Don’s boat 🙂 He’s a very competitive guy.
We then had a picnic at the most beautiful spot in San Diego – Kate Sessions Park in the late afternoon has amazing views of the ocean, bay, Pt. Loma, and downtown. We had takeout Greek from Cafe Athena and then stood and watched over Andy & Sam as they accosted every friendly dog running through the park. We did make friends with two Golden Retrievers (Cooper & Sophie).
Sammy has clinic tomorrow so we’ll check his counts. He zeroed out a little later this time and is finally on his way up. He lost more hearing in the last round of Cisplatin and will be fitted for loaner hearing aids sometime in the next couple of weeks. He’ll get his permanent ones after stem cell transplant.
Sammy’s scans are scheduled for June 2nd which is a little later than we expected. We’re already nervous about the results which makes it harder to wait to get them. On the upside, it gives us a full two weeks off before surgery so we’re going to make the most of it.
