“Gross, total resection”. Those are magical words. That’s surgeon speak for “I got it all” and I confirmed again that that’s what happened since this is such great news. I am still in disbelief at how successful surgery was! Sam is doing super in ICU. He has had all of his catheters removed and will be transferred to the oncology floor tomorrow. He’s “voiding” (nurse talk for peeing) and “passing gas” (nurse talk for farting – I had to throw that in there) which is all part of getting his digestive system back to fully functional operation. He starts eating/drinking again tomorrow and is already hungry. What else can I tell you? 48 hours after surgery with tubes hanging out of him, he still beats me pretty easily at Super Mario Kart races on his Nintendo machine. When he crosses the line, he gets an evil grin and trash talks “I just smoked you Dad”. But I don’t mind a bit. We had a bunch of nurses from the oncology area visit today which was awesome – you get close to the nurses over there since you see them a ton and it is a real pick-me-up when they come by to say hello. All-in-all, just another great day. Thanks so much for reading and for the constant thoughts/prayers. I have a ton of v/m to return and thank you notes to write and will try to get that done this weekend.
With best wishes, Neil
