Change of plans. Sammy is in the hospital this weekend with a blood infection. He spiked a fever of 103 yesterday morning about 11:00. I brought him in to the hospital and they admitted us. His blood cultured positive (this is the first time we’ve cultured anything) but we won’t know what it is until tomorrow. He spiked another fever yesterday late afternoon of 103 but both fevers came back down as soon as he got some Tylenol. He was feeling great in between fevers and woke today feeling fine. They started him on vancomyacin as soon they found the positive culture. Vanco gives him “red man syndrome” (his skin gets red and stingy so we have to give him Benadryll). He’s sleeping now. We are hoping that the Vanco will clear this up in a matter of days. He’ll have to have clear blood cultures for three straight days. If he doesn’t get a clear culture then they’ll assume it’s in his line and will have to take his line out.

Sam looks great and is up playing video games and walking around and is in good spirits today. Yesterday was a different matter. We tried radiation on his leg and abdomen since we were in-patient and were only able to map out where they would do the treatment on Monday. He’d had it by the time they’d drawn the lines and they’d had it with us. He couldn’t hold still for the tomo at all, he was just spiking his second fever and was feeling pretty miserable. We’ll post when we find out more on the culture tomorrow.

Neil brought Andy up today and he and I are playing at the hotel this afternoon. It’s great to see him. We have been playing monster and painting. Sammy has been asking about seeing Daddy all week so will be very happy to wake up and have him there.
