Sammy’s urine test from last week was fine. His HMA and HVA levels were down from the previous test and well within the normal range. We only need to worry if they go up. His constant sniffing, I’ve discovered, is a side effect of chemo that many neuroblastoma kids have. I read an explanation on the list serve that said that the chemo causes all of the nose hairs to fall out and so the kids sniff all the time. I’m much less worried now.

Halloween was a big success. We went over to Debra’s house for dinner and all the kids ran around Deb’s neighborhood trick-or-treating then we came back and did our little neighborhood, “Uncle Artie’s” house and Bird Rock with Mimi. Talk about a big Halloween. Supergirl (I didn’t go for the WonderWoman costume because it was basically underwear) was very tired afterwards, I had to carry Andy around the Bird Rock neighborhood. He was so tired and his heavy Scooby head was tough for him to keep up. Neil was a PowerRanger just like Sammy. We all had fun and the kids of course wake up and want candy for breakfast. Sammy is already wondering what he should be next year.

Big News. We are potty training Andy. Today is his first day in big boy underwear. So far so good. He hates preschool. I go to pick him up and he runs into my arms and says, “Let’s go home.” Drop off is terrible too. Ooops. Live Update..He just had his first accident. Back now. I keep hoping he’ll warm up to preschool but I may have to concede that it was too soon after we got back from LA and start him a little later. His new word is “damedit.” When we tell him or Sammy anything sternly he says “damedit” Wonder where that came from?

Sammy is really liking Karate and is meeting some kids which he’s really happy about. He won’t wear his hearing aids at all because they constantly beep at him and hurt his ears so I have to take him back to the audioligist and get them adjusted. We have the week off from accutane which is nice. His lips are looking a little better.

More next week. We see the doctor in LA on Wednesday for blood check.
