Ah Picasso Schmicasso, Ansel Adams Shmansel Shmadems! The most beautiful image in the world to me is Sammy’s little body up on that bone scan screen with the skeleton showing nothing lighting up but the growth plates! One down four to go.
Here is the official report on the bone scan:

HISTORY: The patient is a five-year-old male with neuroblastoma.
FULL RESULT: 3 hrs following intravenous administration of 20 mCi of technetium 99m MDP, total body images of the skeleton were obtained along with camera images of the cranial vault. The patient was hydrated. Oblique on scan shows normal uptake by the visualized bony structures. No abnormal uptake suggestive of bone metastases is demonstrated. The soft tissues show normal uptake. The kidneys show normal excretion bilaterally.
IMPRESSION: Unremarkable body bone scan.

Isn’t “unremarkable” such a beautiful word? Just listen to it roll off the tongue. We had the CT and MRI today and will be on pins and needles until we get that CT result. MIBG is tomorrow. Things are looking good so far but those will be our two biggies.
The boys are currently naked jumping from the couch to the table to the bed in the hotel. Neil just walked in with some Baskin Robbins for dessert and Andrew promptly turned his cone sideways to eat the cone (his favorite part, he can take or leave the ice cream) and dropped the ice cream on the floor after accidentally smearing it all over his naked belly. In other words, it’s the usual chaos. The boys have been having so much fun together; it makes it much better for Sammy when Andrew and Daddy come up. We were done with scans by 1:00 today and took the kids to the Santa Anita horse races. We saw the statue of Seabiscuit and Sammy was really excited since he saw most of the movie. Sammy’s horses won the first race and he kept talking about it all day. Then we went to Chuck-E-Cheese for a couple of hours since I promised the kids. Ugh, but they had a good time. It was a full day. Sammy really wants Andy to stay tonight and tomorrow. We were going to take him home tonight but are wavering.
Sam has been a champ as usual. The MRI lady told Neil he was the best five year-old she’d ever had. He had to get poked twice yesterday for the IV after I told the nurses where his best vein was and they ignored me went for the other arm and ended up with the vein I suggested in the first place. He cried but didn’t move, the nurses felt so bad they gave him a new Marble Run toy afterwards. Will update more after results on Friday.
