Ugh. Sam spiked a fever last night and we bounced back into the hospital. We went to the emergency room for a blood count to see if his counts were still high so he wouldn’t have to be admitted. Unfortunatley, his ANC was .5 and I’m guessing since we were still high on Monday that this is just the beginning of the low white count and we may be stuck in the hospital for a while. We have to wait until his white counts hit 500 before they’ll let us out. This used to happen in upfront therapy all the time. He’d spike a fever and then be fine but stuck in the hospital for days. It sucks because he had such a great week at school this week. When we did our highs and lows at dinner he’d say, “My high was going to school. My low was going to the hospital.” He was even getting up early and getting ready to go so he could stand in line with his class before school. Sam voluntarily waking up early is very rare. He’s feeling fine, just tired. He and Neil stayed over last night and I’ll stay with him tonight. I’ve got to get going over there with the Gamecube, homework and other things for him to to do but I’ll update more soon. I hate the bouncebacks because his two weeks off are never really two weeks off. This is the first time he’s been inpatient in over a year.
