Happy Birthday Sammo!  You would be eleven today.  We would be starting a new chapter with middle school in the fall. I keep thinking of all those computer renderings of what people might look like as they age and even though it’s only a year, I wonder how you would have changed this past year.   You live through all of us and our memories of you. And we remember you always. Your brothers have been keeping up lots of Sharks and Minnows and Marco Polo in the pool this summer following in your tradition.  Andy is playing lots of soccer and I just bought him size SIX cleats, geez.  He talks about you all the time.  I wish you were here to tease him about his feet.  He says he needs to keep growing like a weed.  Charlie has so many of your facial expressions, it’s crazy. It takes my and Dad’s breath away sometimes.  We wish you were here to help usher him in to kindergarten, I know you’d be so proud of him.

We have been watching the women’s world cup and thinking of you.  Charlie just ran upstairs to tell me that the USA made a goal and dragged me down to see the replay. Wish you were here to watch it with us.   We are all going up to the park tonight to play baseball and soccer and football and have a picnic and let some balloons go.  All your friends will be there, buddy.  We love you and miss you and think of you always. Happy Birthday!

Love, Mom, Dad, Andy and Mr. Baby Dude

Happy birthday, Sam! I miss playing go-kart and skiing video games with you. And I especially miss how you would always program the game so that you’d get a 5- or 10-second jump on me. Of course, you never had to do that, because I was always (and still am) uncoordinated and rarely, if ever, beat you. I do, however, womp your brother in chess, Marco Polo and soccer all the time (okay, well, not all the time…maybe once or twice out of 100). Love, Uncle Matt.

Happy 11th Birthday sweet Sam!! I’m picturing the party that you and Syd had in heaven today!! Things in this life happen and we don’t have the answers for. And it hurts. But I truly believe that there is something to Syd and Sammy going to heaven on the same day. I KNOW that they are ok. I KNOW that they are soo happy. But boy does it hurt. Thinking about you guys always!!!

    With love,

    Rhonda.

Sam turned eleven in heaven – playing soccer with all the angels and his friends. I miss you Sam. Do you get my prayers every day? Keep watching over your brothers and mom and dad too. Did you see the baseball game last week, with dad’s return to “behind the plate?” It inspired us so much we had our own make up game right near your tree. It was great fun for Charlie – who is just like you, a stickler for the rules. Andy hit all the balls. At the real game, Andy gave Dad a few tips on hitting, which really helped Dad. He did have a hit and made it to first. But the next batter didn’t get him to second.

Love you so much, Sam. Keep plugging for everyone down here.

    Hey Sammo-

You are my hero; stoic and brave and stiff upper lip…

Big footsteps for Andy and Baby Charlie.

Most of all I want you to know that we all keep you close and you are not missing but simply on leave from this earth; you changed everyone of us and we are better for it.

Happy birthday, Sam. I was in San Diego (visiting CA from the east coast)much of last week, visiting Sea World, Lego Land, and the San Diego Zoo. I thought of you and your family so much of the time….you certainly have left your mark on this world and my heart.

Yikes. Sobbing now. Not too festive for your birthday, Sam, but I’m sure you’d understand. I don’t know of any kid who’s loved as much as you are, and missed every day. Your mom and dad are two of the strongest people I know. But you knew that, didn’t you? Happy Birthday.

Love and remember all those b-days and photos. Eleven. Wow. I think if you were on Earth, Sam, you would still just be wonderful you: Smart, funny, sporty, goofy, curious, strong, empathetic. And those middle school girls would be knocking at your door! Photos or not, so many of us – especially that amazing family of yours, remembers. And your spirit lives on and on and on. I keep thinking of you riding that bike on Andy’s birthday, and of you laughing so hard at your laser tag b-day celebration- keep riding and laughing in heaven, Sam. Thinking of you brings us tears of sadness for missing you -and tears of joy for knowing and remembering. Love, The Bonebrakes
