August 5, 2005 (Day 0)

By Neil | August 5, 2005

Sam’s stem cell transplant was fine. No reactions, no fevers. Just a quick infusion of his stem cells collected after round 2 in March. We are very thankful that Sam has done so well and has made it this far. The rest of the day was pretty standard. We’re doing our best to fill every moment with activity since we can’t leave the room. So, we’re doing mazes, building puzzles and then taping them to the wall to decorate, we are building lego trucks, bionicles, and cars. We are playing I-Ninja, a Playstation game, and are about to breakout the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game again. Plus, we have to do some words, letters, and alphabets. We have at least 3 more weeks in this room (the doctor’s say more) so if you have any ideas on how to entertain a little guy, please email me. There’s only so much Disney Channel & Cartoon Network we can watch. I hope all’s well in the world outside of room 3111. Keep praying for Sam and I appreciate all of the emails and try to respond to all. PS…Andy’s doing fine and playing a lot with his Grandma Sara from New Mexico. I do believe that Andy could churn through about 20 adults daily. The whirlwind has so much energy and enthusiasm and very little appetite for naps that after a few hours, you want to wave the white flag and ask for help!

Thanks for everything – Neil
