Out Out Damn Spot!
I’m picking Sammy up from school in about twenty minutes to go and get his injection for his MIBG scan tomorrow. I’ve already got that frantic nervous energy that I always get before scans. Everytime we have a scan and I’m watching it come up on the monitor and I see a spot show up, I have this irrational urge to go and scrub the monitor screen to get the spot off. If only it were that easy to fix.
We had a great time in Big Bear. Cathy and her dad and Ally and Andrew and Ava all came up with and the kids had a ball. We took them to the little Big Bear zoo where they saw the grizzly bear family, a snow leopard and white wolves. Sam bought some postcards and brought them to school on Monday for sharing. The kids made peanut butter bird feeders out of pine cones and roasted marshmellows (Sammy keeps talking about the marshmellows) both Cathy’s good ideas.. We took them up the chair lift to the top of Snow Summit and had lunch and then before we left we all went inner-tubing on the little half slope of man-made snow. Charlie stayed down below with Cathy and the rest of us shot down the hill with the kids on our back. It was great fun. Andrew and Andrew were quite a pair all weekend. Together, they are trouble. They reminded me of the squirrel in Over the Hedge after he’s had a little caffiene. Those of you who’ve seen the movie will know what I’m talking about. All the kids were so excited to be on vacation, and though it was short we packed a lot in. The house was just beautiful. Thank you again, Jim!
Sam has made it to three days in a row of school. Hurray! He’ll miss some today for the injection and more tomorrow for the scan. They have Friday off- I wish had the foresight to figure that out last month when we scheduled the scans. Next week will be chemo again – probably starting on Tuesday. It’s been good to have a week off to feed him. He’s so darn skinny now I wouldn’t be surprised if Andrew and he weigh about the same but he’s been eating a lot this week and I’ve been trying to add healthy calories to everything.
I’ll update again tomorrow after the scan. Come on Magic Yellow Pill!!!!
